Position Summary

JAAGO Foundation Trust is seeking a motivated Assistant Hostel Supervisor for the Shopner Sharothi project under GESP (Girls Education and Skills Partnership), aimed at empowering adolescent girls and young women in Cox's Bazar and Bandarban. This role supports the Female Hostel Supervisor in creating a safe, supportive, and enriching living environment for residents. The Assistant Hostel Supervisor will assist in managing daily operations, addressing resident needs, and fostering a positive community atmosphere. Key responsibilities include organizing activities, ensuring compliance with safety protocols, and providing support in conflict resolution. Candidates must be citizens of Bangladesh. Please note that the availability of this position is contingent upon project funding confirmation.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily functioning of the hostel, ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all residents.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for residents, addressing their concerns, providing guidance, and offering emotional support as needed.
  • Implement safety protocols and ensure compliance with hygiene and security standards to protect the well-being of all residents.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive community atmosphere by organizing social, educational, and recreational activities that encourage resident engagement.
  • Mediate disputes and resolve conflicts among residents, promoting a respectful and harmonious living environment.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with residents, staff, and external stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration and support.
  • Keep accurate records of resident attendance, incidents, and any concerns, providing regular reports to the Training Centre Coordinator.
  • Work closely with training and support staff to align hostel activities with the overall goals of the project.
  • Conduct orientation sessions for new residents, familiarizing them with hostel rules, facilities, and available resources.
  • Gather feedback from residents to assess the hostel experience and implement improvements as needed.
  • Develop and implement emergency procedures, ensuring residents are informed and prepared for any situation.

Safeguarding:

  • Uphold and promote the organization's safeguarding policies to ensure the safety, dignity, and well-being of all children, young people, and vulnerable adults engaged in our activities.
  • Immediately report any concerns, suspicions, or incidents of safeguarding breaches in line with the organization's reporting procedures.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and conduct that fosters a safe and respectful environment for all beneficiaries, colleagues, and stakeholders.

Qualifications & Experience 

Education:

  • Minimum HSC pass or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Minimum 06 months - 01 year of work experience with adolescent girls or young women.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of child protection and safeguarding principles, with experience working in environments focused on girls safety.
  • Previous experience in managing or supervising a hostel or residential facility is highly desirable.
  • Experience or training in emergency response and crisis management to ensure the safety of residents.
  • Familiarity with first aid and emergency procedures to ensure residents safety.
  • Ability to handle conflicts and address issues among residents diplomatically.
  • Understanding and appreciation of diverse backgrounds and cultures, promoting an inclusive environment.
  • A caring attitude toward residents, providing support and guidance when needed.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to address resident needs.
  • Ability to supervise staff and oversee daily activities, ensuring smooth operations.
